angela sun

Angela Sun is a first generation mad, fat, feminist performer, theatre creator, arts administrator, and writer of Chinese descent. She has previously performed: at the Gardiner Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario; at festivals such as the Feminist F*ck It Festival, Toronto Fringe, Hamilton Fringe, Paprika, SummerWorks, and InspiraTO; and for theatre companies including Little Black Afro, Filament Incubator, Broadleaf Theatre, Fancy Bits Theatre, Re:Play/ Brave New Theatre, Hart House Theatre, Canadian Rep, Mixed Company Theatre, Toronto Laboratory Theatre, and the UofT Centre for Drama, Theatre, & Performance Studies. 

 

Her original works have been curated by xLq for their art party Trash Sanctuary and by Little Black Afro/ Taking It Global/ Obsidian Theatre Company for their Rising Tide Showcase. She is the Communications Director of Mixed Company Theatre and was an Associate Producer at Broadleaf Theatre. She has reviewed for Mooney On Theatre and have been featured as a poet at both Facilitate and Outrageous reading series. She was a recipient of the fu-GEN Future Generation Scholarship and a RBC Emerging Scholar of the inaugural Toronto Spur Festival.  

 

She previously operated the projections for the Next Stage production of Silk Bath (now Yellow Rabbit) in 2017, and is very grateful for the opportunity to work on another vital, multi-lingual production like Ga Ting.
